Best Time to Visit
Eagles start to gather around the south side of Lock and Dam 14 in LeClaire as the ice begins to form in December and linger around late February to early March. In the springtime, Pelicans start to gather on the south side of the channel in the late spring and early summer months and can be seen soaring in the skies above LeClaire through August and September!
Lock and Dam Number 14 is located on the Mississippi River, just off Highway 67 and just South of Interstate 80.

Every winter, majestic bald eagles make LeClaire their winter home, soaring through the skies high above the Mississippi River. Catch a glimpse of these magnificent birds of prey during the 3rd Annual LeClaire Eagle Fest.
This free, educational event offers a once-in-a-lifetime chance to see our incredible national symbol in its natural habitat. Spotting scopes on the Celebration Center rooftop patio allow an up-close look without disturbing the eagles as they hunt for food. Indoors you will see live birds up close, enjoy interesting presentations, and more.
