Eagles Through March
Pelicans - From Late March - Early Fall
Bald Eagle Photography & Viewing at Lock & Dam 14
EAGLES SPOTTED IN LECLAIRE TREES AND SKIES AS OF
01/13/12!
Nature photographers and bird watchers will be delighted with
the opportunities at Lock and Dam #14 on the Mississippi River in LeClaire to
capture amazing photos and sightings of Bald Eagles in the Winter months and
Pelicans that call Le Claire "home" during the Spring and Summer months. There
are so many eagles in one place, you have to see it to believe it!
Eagles start to gather around the Lock and Dam on the South Side of LeClaire
as soon as the ice starts forming in December and stay around through late
February and early March. Pelican start to soar around the skies of
LeClaire in mid-March. Don't miss this exciting opportunity to get some great shots!
Lock and Dam #14 is located on the Mississippi
River, just off Highway 67 and just South of Interstate 80.
Click here to find Lock and Dam 14
with Google Maps
Any time of day is good for Eagle watching from L&D 14.
Best time for photography is afternoons because the sun is moving downriver
and will be at your back when photographing.
Light fades after 4pm
After a day of photography, visit LeClaire for great
hotels, shopping,
antiquing, exploring and
dining.The following photos
were taken by Burt Gearhart of LeClaire, Iowa
in January and February 2012.

How many eagles do you see in
this picture?
Taken by Burt Gearhart of LeClaire on January 27, 2010.
Pelicans start gathering in the channel on the South Side of LeClaire in the
late Spring and early Summer months and can
be seen soaring in the skies above LeClaire through August and September.
